The Montana Coaches Association is pleased to announce and congratulate Laura Sundheim on her selection to the National High School Athletic Coaches Association Hall of Fame.
Laura Sundheim started her coaching career in 1979, at Eastern Montana College (now MSU-Billings) as an assistant coach to the women’s basketball and track/field teams for one year. She then moved to Nashua where she was the head coach of the girls’ basketball and track teams for one year. In 1982, she moved to Hardin and has coached the Bulldogs for 42 years. Her Hardin resume’ includes head volleyball (21 years), head cross country (3 years), head track coach (21 years) along with stints as an assistant in the volleyball (1), cross country (10), track (21).
Coach Sundheim has been involved in winning 6 state championships in volleyball, and 5 state championships in cross country. Her teams have 14 divisional titles (volleyball –12, track – 2) along with district basketball championship in 1980-81 (Nashua).
Laura has been a 5X MCA COY as well as a NHSACA National COY Finalist (1998) and NFICA National Nominee for COY (1996). A loyal member of the Montana Coaches Association for 42 years, she was inducted into the MCA Hall of Fame in 2001. In 2022 she was awarded the prestigious “Kathy Holloway-Women of Inspiration Award from the NHSACA.
Laura’s induction ceremony will take place at the NHSACA Hall of Fame Banquet on June 25, 2024, in Bismarck, North Dakota at the Bismarck Hotel and Convention Center.
